An overhead traveling conveyor works better when floor space is already busy or when parts need to pass through several process areas in order. Instead of pushing racks across the workshop, the line carries parts along a fixed route. This can be useful for coating, drying, cooling, assembly, and short storage.
The line still needs careful planning. Loading points should be easy to reach, and curves should match the carried part size. If stations need waiting time, a power and free structure may be better than a simple moving loop. The goal is not only moving parts faster, but making the work path cleaner. It also keeps parts in a clear order, so workers can see which piece is waiting, which one is moving, and which one is ready for the next step. This is helpful in painting and assembly workshops where parts must arrive in order, not only arrive quickly.
